Lost Angel Summary - Chapter 1-3

The novel " Lost Angel " is set in the south of London during war. The story begins when Hilda wakes her 9 year-old daughter,Ellen, so that they could run away to the shelter due to the bombing.
After waiting for hours in the shelter for the all-clear tine, they finally leave the shelter to find out that their house along with every other house in the street had been destroyed and that Hilda's parents were gone. Her parents' death devastates her but she knows that she has to stay strong as not to worsen her daughter condition. Hilda had sent a letter earlier to her friend Gertie so that she could send Ellen to her , but in the meantime while they were waiting for a reply , Mabel , a close friend, takes them in since they had no where else to stay.
Since the rescuers couldn't re-house Hilda and her daughter , Hilda starts to think about moving to Somerset with Ellen.Hilda needed a peaceful place to calm her down away from the war. When Hilda gets a reply, they leave London and go to Somerset by train, there, Gertie welcomes them.
After a long ride on a horse and cart, they finally reach Gertie's house.
Ellen eventually starts to like the place, she enjoys taking care of the animals and exploring the countryside. This gives Hilda hope that she had taken the right decision.
